Hairstrokes, ombre, or combo?

Hairstrokes effect gives you the look of natural hair that looks like your own, while ombre shading provides the glamorous look of professional makeup. Combo brows have both, with a few hairstrokes in the front and the body of the brows filled with ombre shading. Hairstrokes brows may last 2-3 years or more depending on your skin condition while ombre shading or combo brows may last 3-5 years or more.

Please note that if you have oily skin, large pores, skin very fair or very black, you may be a better candidate for ombre shading rather than hairstrokes, as fine hairstrokes may heal blurry on your skin.

If you are not sure which look is the best for you, no worries. If the style is undetermined, at the appointment, we will draw different styles on your brows with a pencil to help you decide which way to go.

If you are interested in ombre shading and would like a shorter-term trial run, book an eyebrow tinting session for brows that last about 3 weeks.

procedure

step-by-spep

Step 1. When you come in, I will answer any question you have regarding the procedure.

Step 2. We will now apply a numbing cream (5% lidocaine, OTC) to your skin to alleviate any discomfort that might occur during the procedure. The cream will stay on for 20 minutes.

Step 3. I will now draw an outline shape of your eyebrows which will guide me while I tattoo. I will need your approval of the outline shape. We will not start the tattooing until you are completely happy with the shape.

Step 4. This is where the fun begins! I will now tattoo your eyebrows. numbing cream will be further applied to ensure your comfort.

Step 5.  Before you head home, you will be given aftercare instructions to follow, you may also purchase an after-care cream from us. Healing is 60% of the process. If you do not follow aftercare instructions properly, your eyebrows will be patchy or scars will occur.

Step 6. In 6-8 weeks, you are ready for your touch-up session if you need one. One touch up session is included in the price.

Eyebrow Aftercare Instructions

  • Avoid facing directly into the water spray when showering.

  • Avoid sun vacations until treated area is fully healed

  • No swimming until treated area is fully healed

  • Absolutely no makeup on eyebrows until fully healed.

  • No exercising or any activities that cause heavy sweating until fully healed.

  • IMPORTANT: For the first 10 days, AVOID heavy sweating and exercise, tanning, long steamy hot showers, sauna, bath, or jacuzzi, facing directly into the water spray when showering, sleeping on your face, swimming, topical makeup and sunscreen on area, rubbing, picking, and scratching the treated area.

Day 0

  • Immediately after the procedure, gently blot the area with the sterile water wipes provided to absorb excess lymph fluid. Do this every 20 minutes until the oozing has stopped. This is crucial to preventing heavy scabbing.

  • Be careful NOT to touch your new eyebrows with your hands EXCEPT when instructed to (i.e. washing and applying aftercare ointment).

Day 1 - Day 7

  • Wash daily to remove bacteria, build-up of product and oils, and dead skin.

  • Gently wash your eyebrows every morning and night with water and gentle soap. With a very light touch, use clean fingertips to gently cleanse the eyebrows. Rub the area in a smooth motion for 10 seconds and rinse with water ensuring that all soap is rinsed away. To dry, gently pat with a clean cotton pad provided. DO NOT use any cleansing products containing acids (glycolic, lactic, or AHA), or exfoliants.

  • Apply a small rice grain amount of aftercare ointment enough for both eyebrows with a cotton swab provided and spread it across the treated area. DO NOT over-apply, as this will suffocate your skin and delay healing. The ointment should be barely noticeable on the skin. DO NOT put the ointment on a wet or damp tattoo.

  • DO NOT apply any other kind of creams, ointments, liquids, cleansers, oils, or makeup.

  • Your new brows will appear darker in color and eventually form scabs during this period. DO NOT PICK THE SCABS. Avoid rubbing, scratching, picking the area as pulling off the scabs prematurely can cause scarring and removal of pigment leading to patchy results. Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate away.

Day 8 - Day 14

  • DO NOT PICK THE SCABS. Let the scabs naturally fall out. You WILL have patchy-colored eyebrows IF you pick the scabs as pigment will come off with the scabs when picked.

  • Keep cleaning and moisturizing as scabs form and fall out. Be very careful when cleaning the area to avoid rubbing off the scabs forcefully.

  • It is normal for the color of brows to appear too light or seemingly not there after scabs fall out, especially under the contrast of dark scabs. This is called "ghosting.” Color will reappear after a couple of days as your skin regenerates.

  • During this time, you may feel self-conscious because of the patchy brows. Please trust the process. This only lasts for a short amount of time!

Day 15 - Day 30

  • After about 28 days, the skin naturally exfoliates and regenerates itself. The color from the strokes that have faded will push through again. You will not be able to see the true healed results until at least 4 weeks and that is when you are ready for your touch-up. At the touch-up session, we can adjust the shape and color if needed and fill in any little spots that have faded.

FAQ

Whats the difference between microblading and nano hairstrokes done by a digital device?
Microblading and nano hairstroke technique both create fine hair strokes on your brows to make them look fuller and more defined. They are both tattoos, just using different tools. Nano hairstroke technique delivers much less skin trauma and more natural results.

How long does it last?

Generally, 2-3 years for hairstrokes, 3-5 years or more for ombre.

The longevity of your permanent makeup depends highly on your skin type, metabolism, lifestyle and skincare routine.
If you have oily skin around treatment area, the pigment will tend to blur and fade faster compared to someone with dry skin.
If you exercise or sweat a lot, your permanent makeup will tend to fade faster.
If you routinely use retinol, retin-A or any product that exfoliates skin, your permanent makeup will tend to fade faster.

Does it hurt?
After topical anesthetics (5% lidocaine), discomfort level for most clients should be very little to none. However, anesthetics work better for some people than others. There could be some discomfort involved. People who have very fair skin tone or on menstrual cycle will experience more discomfort.

Is this a tattoo?
By definition, yes it is.
However, permanent makeup devices are designed for such procedures and have lower speed and vibration compared to tattoo machines. Needles used for such devices are much finer compared to tattoo needles to imitate fine hair strokes. Pigments used for permanent makeup are also specially designed to best match hair colors, skin tones and to make sure the color does not fade to blue or red like some tattoos do.
